In this age printed words and exercising literacy are often lost to the digital mundanity of everyday life. Inspired by the literary and artistic phenomenon in Mexico known as Acción Poética, this gift set is comprised of wrapping paper and various writing necessities that cultivate literacy. Carefully scribed with short “micro-poems,” the gift set aims to encourage thought and promote the act of reading, specifically of poetry. Using gestural handwriting by inkwell pens in tandem with painterly blackletter, the gift set’s visual aesthetics reference the intimate act of writing while nodding to the rebellious act of sharing one’s writing in public spaces similar to Acción Poética.
