A community is defined by its people and places. Houston is currently the single most ethnically diverse metropolitan area in the country. The very diversity that Houston celebrates is increasingly diminishing due to the rise of gentrification within the most culturally rich neighborhoods. Every day families and entire communities are displaced from their homes, then put into extreme financial and psychological stress due to the gentrification and “growth” of the city. This data visualization campaign seeks to demand attention to this growing issue through the use of printed interactives that create a dialogue between all residents of Houston so that citizens become informed activists that are inspired to create change within their community.
